Pump Replacement
Selecting a pump source of replacement can be a little difficult. Different types of pumps available for indoor and outdoor sources. Here are some tips to help you get the right pump for your fountain.
You probably noticed the abbreviation GPH on your pump. This means gallons per hour. GPH is what tells you about the flow rate that the source needs for adequate water flow. The type of pump you buy depends on the GPH. For example, a source table would have a relatively small GPH 50-100. A major source may have a GPH of 350-570.
You also need to know the height of the 'head' and 'maximum chief' its source. The "head" the height is the distance between the basin of the fountain and the launching point of water. The depth of the basin does not affect the height of the 'head'. You have to measure from the top of the tube, ie out of water until the actual point where the water is discharged. The head of Max is the maximum height the pump can push water uphill.
Always remember to buy a pump that has a "head of Max that is superior to its source. This is because, at its maximum height, the water flow is not strong. For example, if you have a source that is 4 meters of the basin for the water release point, then you need a pump that has a "top leader" of about 5 or 6 feet. This will ensure that water flow is still strong enough to 4 feet.
The outlet pipe size is also important. Knowing the size of the outlet tube will ensure that the source tube conforms to the opening of the new pump. The move is the inside diameter of the tube in the water fountain pump.
