Can I put a hot drink in a glass bottle without shattering?

One way to add the hot liquid to a glass container of any kind is put a spoon or knife high in the glass and slowly pouring the liquid over it. This expands the flow of fluid entering the crystal, allowing the inside and outside of the glass to reach the temperature of the liquid a little more gradual.
