Biological Pond
The sound of water flowing through a shallow stream or over a waterfall is like natures relaxing music. It also adds biological filtration and oxygen water. Creating a waterfall or a stream that looks natural is easier than you might think. When designing your koi ponds use a line level to determine the slope of the area of the lagoon or leading to the lagoon. You can also create a hill or berm with soil and rocks to dig the pond.

The strategic placement of a large rock or plantations can mask the onset of a sequence.
The main part of the stream should be lined with gravel. River gravel tends to look more natural stone, pea gravel or pebble. Selective use of larger stones within the stream and up the sides, break the look and flow of water. Allow 1 to 2 feet in each side of the gravel. Sudden and unexplained death of fish pond?
I have a pond of 3600 liters with different varieties of Koi and goldfish. Fantails I bought 3 weeks ago 4 fish new (2 Moorish fantasy and 2 black) and 12 tadpoles (disappeared). 10 days ago one of the fantails died unexpectedly - no signs of illness or injury. Since then, I lost 3 more fish - 1 per day for the last 3 days. Each of these fish are about 1 year old and "born" in the pond. Water quality is generally good (ammonia, nitrites, pH, etc.) I have a biological filter all, a bottom drain and a skimmer box. No water is very clear but you can see below. The lake is about 3 years old. It has also snails.None of these fish have shown no signs of illness or injury and I am puzzled. The only problem was with an unusual luxury fantails older (2 + years of age) who have developed fungus. I treated him / her with anti-fungus both inside and outside the pond. I also added salt. HELP! I'm at a loss and not know what else to do for these children.
